Welfare Working Group Forum
The issues around the benefit system and in particular around long-term welfare dependency were the focus of a two-day forum hosted by the Welfare Working Group on 9-10 June 2010 at Victoria University in Wellington. Read the media release here.
Participants, which were limited to 250, came from New Zealand and overseas. Contributors to the Forum included Bob Gregory from the Australian National University, Peter Whiteford from the University of New South Wales Social Policy Research Centre and international specialists from the OECD.
Over the two days, a mixture of plenary and parallel sessions focused on a wide variety of topics related to benefits and income support. The full programme can be found here
